For the past year I’ve been waiting for the chance to get a wide angle image of a Common Loon on a nest. This past weekend I was lucky enough to find a loon that didn’t mind my presence at all, and on top of that, photograph it at sunset! When I first found the nest, I sat beside the loon for an hour just so that it could get used to me. I essentially spent five days with the loon. It would even stand up to adjust the eggs and even laid its second egg while I was there. It was pretty insane to be able to have this experience and finally come across a tame enough loon to get this image. I also used a wireless remote so i didn’t have to be right over the camera. For the past couple months before this image I searched the internet to see if anyone had taken an image like this, and I couldn’t find any. Overall I was very happy to finally acheive my goal.
